This week we’ll be meeting downtown at the 5th Avenue Grill, 5 Ave. & 5 St. SW, for a presentation entitled

“It’s 10 a.m.! Do you know where your IT projects are?”, led by Yogi Schulz of Corvelle Consulting.

We are very fortunate to have Yogi for the presenter on this topic: he is an expert project manager, and has presented on it to far larger groups.

Mr. Schulz has over 24 years of Information Technology experience in various industries.  He works extensively in the petroleum industry to select and implement financial, geotechnical, production revenue accounting and land & contracts systems arising from changes in business requirements, the need to leverage technology opportunities and mergers.  His specialties include IT strategy, web strategy and systems project management.

Mr. Schulz speaks regularly to industry groups and writes a monthly column for Computing Canada that focuses on project management issues and solutions.

Thursday Feb 18th Meeting

We have a busy meeting planned this week!

First we two new prospective members — Norm Dawson and Kevin Hayes — who will providing 5-minute overviews of their businesses, and we will be voting on their acceptance into the club.  Kevin and Norm will both be asked to speak in more detail about their businesses at a later date.

Second, we have a guest speaker, Bob Jonathan from Key People Contracting, who will talk on “When does a contractor become an employee?”

Bob’s company specializes in working with the independent contractor legislation and providing cost savings to companies by converting employees to independent contractors within the CRA guidelines.

A Prelude to Thursday

This was a very funny explanation of AT&T in the U.S. The funny thing is, its completely accurate. We have had similar stories of mergers in Canada, but not quite as extravagant. There is a commercial in the beginning, but its worth the wait to see the whole thing.
